OpenMoveOver is now on SourceForge.net!
Following the enthusiastic response to the launch of Resolvo's
popular Windows to Linux migration tool, MoveOver (over 7,000 downloads
of MoveOver freeware to-date), Resolvo Systems announces today that
it will make its source code for MoveOver available to the open
source community. MoveOver automates the migration process to allow
users to move their files, settings and emails easily from Windows
to Linux desktop within 6 steps. Resolvo’s open sourcing strategy
is designed to accelerate development of future high-quality versions
of Resolvo's MoveOver to cater to business customers and individuals.
"Resolvo has always been a strong advocate of Linux solutions
in optimizing enterprise resources. The time is right for us to
take the bold action of making part of MoveOver free - and we are
going even further by committing to post part of the source code
for free for MoveOver," said Yap Boon Leong, Resolvo’s
director of business development. "By giving away the source
code, we can ignite the creative energies of the community and fuel
innovation in the Linux market. Our customers can benefit from world-class
technology advancements to ensure a seamless transition to Linux."
Currently, the company has made available a limited edition of
MoveOver free for all users. With this action, MoveOver makes it
easier than ever for individuals at home and organizations to move
away from their Microsoft environment. “Many enterprises are
hesitant about moving to Linux as they are worried about potential
migration and integration problem. MoveOver reduces part of the
hesitation by taking the pain out of Linux migration.”
In conjunction with its move to opensourcing MoveOver, Resolvo
has set up a special section called “Resolvo World”
on its website for the open source community. “Resolvo World”
provides a rich article bank and frequent updates of tips for users
to resolve their migration worries. In addition, there is also an
active forum for developers and Linux users to interact and share
their knowledge. The move to open source part of their source code
and launch “Resolvo World” is in line with Resolvo’s
aim to facilitate collaboration with the open source community.
